Goodbye Like A Tuesday

Empty chair across the table
Your shadow on the wall
I pour one for the silence
You never came at all
The ice in my glass is melting
Like the last of what we had
I keep your side of the bench warm
Even though
I know
You're gone for good
Goodbye
Like a Tuesday
Like taking out the trash
Goodbye like a tuesday
A little hurt, a little plain, a little fast
I said goodbye
Like a Tuesday
And it hit me just the same
Not a storm
Not a grand farewell
Just your name in the rain
The spoon taps once in the saucer
