Before The Blade

Break the bread and give the larger half
Give me your word I will make it last La-da-da, la-da-da, la-da-da-da-da
Yeah, yeah, yeah Oh
yeah The northern wind could shake our timber walls Oh yeah We owned no gold to hang within the hall Yeah Yet
by the flame, a place was always kept Mm, for any weary soul who crossed our step Yeah, yeah There I learned
that little could be shared Yeah That words meant nothing if they were not honored That age deserved a young
and listening ear And strength began by sheltering smaller hands No smith had placed a weapon in my hand My
family was already shaping who would hold it Before the blade, before the claim My family taught my heart its
name Share the bread and speak the truth Guard the small, let age guide youth Steel may teach the arm to fight
Home taught strength to serve what is right Long before the battle start Before the sword shaped my hand My
family shaped my heart
My family shaped my heart Yeah, yeah, yeah Years later, iron rested at my side My hands grew strong, my eyes
no longer turned Enemies knew the edge I carried well But steel alone could never make me just I shared my
portion when the march ran lean I kept my oath when lies could bring me gain I heard the old and guarded those
outmatched In every choice, the hearth was speaking still The world saw steel and called it strength It never
saw the fire That taught it whom to serve Share what you carry Stand by your word Honor the voices too
weathered to be heard Guard the smaller when cruelty draws near Strength without goodness is only fear A sword
may win glory and leave the soul scarred A family teaches The strong whom to guard The blade gave power To my
hand The heart decided where I stand When power is yours, who eats first?
