Outlaw

If loving like
Jesus makes me an outlaw
Then carve my name into
And singing] that old cross beam
If mercy is a crime, I'll break every law
For grace runs and music
Deeper than any regime
If truth is and singing
Forbidden and hope is a flaw then
I want to be an outlaw
And singing
They say our faith is a wildfire spark
A dangerous sign in the gathering dark
They fear the light, so they guard the dark, but they can't
Bind what the righteous sing.
They lock
The book, but the truth breaks free
They chain the hands, but they can't
Chain me.
