Innocence

Sit down a minute.
I'm not here to lecture you.
I've just watched you do this for too long.
You say
I'm fine before anyone even asks.
You laugh at things that aren't funny to you.
You got a whole face to put on the door
And take off when you're alone.
I know, because
I did it too for years.
You're the only thing
I figured out.
No matter what, who you love, who you stay for, what you actually feel.
Innocence.
You had it once before you learn to pretend.
In g
Where you left it.
Start with what you really feel and go from there.
It's all right to look weak.
Sometimes nobody strong ever got there by pretending.
You don't know anyone the version of you.
