My Two Feet Planted

Rolling free. I caught one by the doorway.
You laughed at the mess. Said some days come apart before they get dressed.
So put your tired
hands here. Let the whole day
disappear. When the ground gives way,
I'll stand beside you. When the room goes cold,
I'll make it through.
No grand, no promise,
no borrowed view. Just my two feet planted, staying with you.
Staying with you.
Uh. Yeah. Oh. Your blue cup's chipped where the handle meets.
Still you save the last warm sip for me.
We've got rent due Friday, we're both gone dim.
But you hum while you mend it, and I join in.
So put your tired hands here.
Let the whole day
disappear. When the ground gives way,
I'll stand beside you. When the room goes cold,
I'll make it through.
No grand, no promise,
no borrowed view.
Just my two feet planted, staying with you.
